Like everyone else in the Western world, when my kids asked me what I did all day and I didn't want to explain it all, I could give them the simple answer:
I sit in front of a computer all day,
Like everybody else does.
I read stuff and I write stuff.
Of course, this answer is both correct and useless (which annoyed them no end). We'll get to the helicopter joke (explaining being both correct and useless) later.
In the menu for this section of my website, under Computing, there are some articles about all sorts of useful oddities that I've learned over the years.
